PC Meeting Topic
Idea for next PC Meeting:
- Theme discussion
Hello PCs!
I put together a word version of the STWP Process Template from LGED. I figured it would be a great resource for new and old PCs to have in a hard copy, rather than only accessible in LGED.
Here it is: STWP Template – 4.10.14
Any feedback is welcomed 🙂
Hey all! Below is the agenda for this week’s meeting. Please advise on what you would like the focus topic to be this week.

Hi Meagan, Do the writers attend these meetings?
Hey @davina-van-buren! Writers do not attend this meeting! Thank you for asking 🙂

Ideas:
A better process for handing off clients to new PC’s
Ways for the PC to get a better connection with the client prior to Kickoff meetings (i.e. If Becky spoke with them in the past, it would be helpful for a PC to know what they talked about, and what advice Becky gave them about their site/project/etc – some clients are getting frustrated bc they think the PC should know what Becky told them, and also know the advice Becky has given them already). It seems like the kickoff form and the MA aren’t enough, especially if the client has talked to Becky in the past.
Getting content consistent: Jane says pages should be 700-1000 words for google, Becky says 500 words for google. When two different things are being said, we should know which to be clear and concise.
1st part: QA for launch list (prior to launch)
2nd part: What is in the FAQ?
Project Coordinators will need to instruct the developers to create 301 redirects if a page exists on a site, but will be changing its URL.
You must make sure the 301 redirects are done correctly, because if it is not your client could lose thousands of Google views that apply to their search link equity, rendering them essentially starting from scratch, which is quite disastrous from an SEO perspective. You can make a spreadsheet in Excel or a Google doc, or simply list them in LGED. But the essential message must be that there is an OLD URL that will now change to a NEW URL, and the PC (not the developer) is responsible for determining those. There are two main types.
One, the Orenstein model, where the URL is kept, but page names are changed:
OLD: http://www.orensteinsolutions.com/services/teen-psychologist-counseling-therapy/
NEW: http://www.orensteinsolutions.com/teen-counseling/
There is also second type, the Joseph Weiss type, where the URL is completely new:
OLD: http://www.drjosephsweiss.com/contact
Technically speaking, developers must make sure that all redirects from A to B are:
-301: if the redirect is permanent and we want the seo juice from A to be passed to B.
-302: if its something temporal, like when a site is under construction and we want to temporarily redirect all visitor to an Under Construction page.. in this case, the seo juice is retained by A.
A good and free plugin for WordPress: http://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/
In the google chrome console, make sure to see the following after testing a redirect: http://prntscr.com/2enu5l
a search on “301” under plugins in the dashboard brings up multiple 301 redirect plug ins….fyi.
jane sent this as well: not sure if it somewhere else on the p2 but here is a link about doing this redirect page by page:

During the PC meeting, we discussed needing to determine which themes we have licensure over (which means multiple time usage) and which are only one time usage. If you know, please post below in the comments. I will do research and add to this as well.
A high quality report can take anywhere between 6-7 hours. Our hourly rate on writing is $40 an hour, so its will cost anywhere between $240 and $280.
We have an elegant themes account, but still charge the client $50 for the theme. Add this as an expense on LGED.
One of our STWP sent me an email saying she wants to save all the content on her current, non-WP site to reference in the future. What is the best way to do this? Have the client copy and paste the content into a word doc? Or will the content be safe in the old site for an extended period of time?
This client is quite needy, and I would hate to lose the content. That would equal a very unhappy woman.
Thanks!
mm she doesnt need to copy it to word, we can just dump all the site to a temporary, hidden folder. Even more, there is no need to take it out of the server..
Thanks @juan-villegas. Milena is the developer on this. What would be the best thing for me to tell her in regards to saving the content then? Dump it into a hidden folder or just leave it on the server?
Juliette uses this app, pixel window, for explaining dimensions of logos/graphics to developers. It is very handy, and free.
