Hosting Email Template – (simply copy and paste into email)

We are getting closer to going live for your website so I wanted to present the hosting options we offer. If you could let me know which plan you would like in a couple of days that would be great. Let me know of any questions and thank you!

    $20/month plan: SECURITY PLAN

    The Problem

Sites get hacked all the time. If your site gets hacked, it will cost anywhere between $100-250 to get it fixed. Besides having to clean up the mess, if malware is inserted into your site and you don’t know it (many clients don’t notice when this happens), you can then be blacklisted by Google, McAffee, etc. and your site gets de-indexed. Recovery from being blacklisted is slow.

    The Solution

Because this has become such a problem, we’ve created a system to both CHECK client’s sites regularly for malware, and to stay on top of what needs to be done to PREVENT malware attacks (as much as possible). Our $20/month hosting plan includes not only the hosting itself (saves you $10/month in hosting fees) but also malware monitoring, website backups, WordPress and plugin upgrades. We do the following:
    1. WP Upgrades: Since outdated WP versions make you susceptible to being hacked, we automatically upgrade your WordPress software when a new release is made available.
    2. Plugin Upgrades: Since outdated plugins make you susceptible to being hacked, we automatically upgrade your plugins when a new release is made available.
    3. Malware Monitoring: Since it’s important to catch any malware placement early, we scan your site to check on malware every 6 hours. If malware is detected, we immediately clean your site before you get blacklisted by Google, McAfee, etc.
    4. Website Backups: We automatically make a full backup of your site and all it’s files and data each month. If your site does get taken out with malicious code, we can easily get you back up and running.

With your OWN hosting, we encourage you to ensure that you have all of these protections in place, yourself. We’re able to provide hosting AND these protections for only $20 / month, because we do it for many websites and therefore get the benefit of efficiencies. If you do this for yourself, you will probably spend more than $20/month.

    $50/month plan: PREMIUM PLAN

This is our premium hosting plan. It includes everything described above PLUS up to one hour’s worth of technical work on your website. The normal charge for technical work is $60/hour. If you need some work each month (us adding your blog posts, make small changes, etc.) this technical hour will cost you only $30 additional, beyond the $20 for other services. Deal.
If you don’t update your site regularly, this plan isn’t for you.

Need Better Process for host account balancing

We just got an entire hosting account shut down via Bluehost because our practicebuildingbook.com account is again over the allotted file size.

We need to get this account down to normal size — probably need to move a bunch of sites out of it.

This set of sites that are down include 8 client sites, our Letsgeterdone site, and 16 development sites.

On 11/19, Daryl had got our file sizes down from 204k to 183,573, But today (12/7), its now up to 235k. So they shut us down — no warning this time — no date by which you can have it down.

So, I’m proposing that Daryl have a weekly task of checking the file sizes in all bluehost accounts to see where we’re at. And balancing them.

PC’s will need to check with Daryl before they tell the developer what hosting account to put the site in.

Workshop – Hosting, Email Hosting and how it all works

    Hi all,

We need to have a workshop about our hosting services and how they work. I have a client that wants to know how Host Gator (for example – could be bluehost too – handles email – for example, is there an easy pathway to check her email? Can you check host gator email on a mobile app?

These are questions I didn’t know the answer to – so it would be helpful to be more informed.

    thanks.

    juliette

All webhosts offer a webmail service, that works just like a gmail client: they give you an url where you enter username and password and log in to your mailbox.

If the webhost gives you the smtp server, you can always link your @domain.com account to outlook express or also gmail.

i am wondering how hostgator does it – specifically can a user get their hostgator email from their phone?

In my experience, none of the email interfaces that come from these hosting accounts are particularly user-friendly. In addition, they have to go to another place to see their email.

My suggestion would be that all of our clients have some friendlier email — usually one they’re already using — such as gmail, yahoo, etc. and that we forward their name@sitename.com email to them at their gmail/yahoo id.

All of you PCs are doing this already. You all have either a page1pros.org id or a counselingwise.com id and we forward your email to your gmail id. You can tell what is “work” related email compared to personal email, and you can respond to or author emails from your “work” id.

      take a look at: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/email/setting-up-email-for-the-apple-iphone

basically, they give you the configuration parameters and you use the Mail program in your ithing (iphone, ipad, etc) or even in your desktop client (outlook, thunderbird..)
